The short answer: Yes, but we're open by appointment only (for now!) Our studio and showroom is located at 90 Bridge St, Suite 1136 in Westbrook, Maine. While we don't have "open hours," we'd be happy to have you in for a private shopping appointment -- shoot us an email at contact@underdogcandles.com and we'll schedule a time for you to come in and shop! Our candles are also sold in stores across the US (find the latest list of stores here), and you can shop our candles at our pop-up events (find the latest calendar here).

We're located at 90 Bridge St, Suite 1136 in Westbrook, Maine (inside the Dana Warp Mill). Once you arrive at the Mill, enter through door 5 (in the middle of the building), turn right, and Suite 1136 is the 4th door on the right!

Yes! We have a specific line of refillable candles, and we sell refill inserts specifically fitted to those jars. Once you've burned through the original candle, use these refill inserts to give your jar new life! Simply clean out your original jar (we recommend freezing the jar overnight so the excess wax & wick pop out easily), then unwrap your insert and slide it right into your clean jar. You can purchase a full candle, a refill insert, or a candle + refill bundle here. For our other candles, we'd love to pour you a refill at our studio. You're welcome to clean out your empty candle jars and drop them off at our studio. Just be sure to attach a note with your name, email, phone, and the scents you'd like in each jar (here are the options). From there, we'll measure them for you, let you know the final jar sizes and cost, and then pour them within about 1 week and let you know when they're ready for pickup.

If you'd rather not ship your order, we offer free pickup at our Westbrook, Maine studio. You’ll save money on shipping costs, AND you’ll stop unnecessary packing & shipping materials from entering the environment. It’s a win win! Orders are typically ready for pickup within 7 business days. Once your order is ready for pickup, we'll send you an email notification letting you know the next available pickup slots.

For online shop orders: You can expect to receive your order in 2 - 12 business days, depending on the shipping speed you selected at checkout. If you can't remember what you selected, it will be in your order confirmation email! For bulk/custom candles orders: We'll give you an exact ETA when your order is placed!

Each candle we make is hand-poured with 100% soy wax, blended with essential oil-infused fragrances, and finished off with cotton wicks. We use soy wax because it means cleaner burning - no toxins or pollutants that can be harmful or trigger allergies. Regular paraffin candles can contain petrol-carbon soot, and we're not about that. On top of that, our soy wax candles can burn up to 50% longer than paraffin candles. Soy wax is beautifully imperfect, so each candle will slightly vary in consistency. Don't worry, this is how nature intended it!

Each month, your candle will be arrive hand-wrapped in our signature black tissue paper and canvas pouch. Yes -- it makes a fantastic gift! You can gift a Candle of the Month subscription here. Simply choose between a 3-month, 6-month and 12-month subscription, enter your billing details, and enter the gift recipient's mailing address. At the end of the subscription period you've selected, your subscription will automatically cancel, but we'll give the recipient the option to seamlessly continue by setting up their own separate subscription.

Great news! You've already taken the first step by buying our 100% soy wax candles, which can burn up to 50% longer than candles made from the standard paraffin wax. We also recommend following our care instructions, but we've summarized for you here: Be sure to burn your candle for at least 1 hour each time. That way, the wax will melt all the way to the edges of the vessel, so your candle doesn't "tunnel." Tunneling is the worst, because not all the wax gets used and your candle won't live as long! Trim that wick! If it's longer than 1/4" at any time, it needs a haircut. When trimmed to the appropriate height, not only will your candles last longer, they’ll also burn better and be more fragrant in comparison to candle wicks that are not properly cared for.
